PSA nitrogen generator principle of operation
PSA nitrogen generator is automatic equipment which separate oxygen from air, according to the performance of molecular sieve, when pressurized the molecular sieve adsorption and depressurization the molecular sieve desorption. The molecular sieve is a kind of spherical granular adsorbent, which is formed by the special holes processing technology. The surface and the inner surface and the interior are filled with micro pores. Its groove characteristics enable the separation of oxygen and nitrogen. The separation of oxygen and nitrogen by molecular sieves is based on the small differences in the kinetic diameters of these two gases. The nitrogen molecule has a faster diffusion rate in the micro pores of the molecular sieve. Slow diffusion rate of oxygen/nitrogen molecules. Nitrogen molecules are enriched in the end from the adsorption tower.
Nitrogen generator is constructed according to the principle of operation P.S.A. (Pressure Swing Adsorption) and is composed by a minimum of two absorbers filled up with molecular sieve. The absorbers are crossed alternatively by the compressed air (previously purified in order to eliminate oil, humidity and powders) and produce oxygen. While a container, crossed by the compressed air, produces gas, the other regenerates itself losing to pressure atmosphere the gases previously adsorbed. The process comes in cyclical way. The generator is managed by a PLC.
